This is a cool tourist destination. We rode up from Myrtle Beach just to buy wonderful delicacies. The fruitcake is of course their claim to fame, but all our friends enjoyed the chocolate pecan critters. Southern Supreme will remain our Fall destination motorcycle trip.

Apparently, Southern Supreme is the best place to hit up while in the area. I went there during the off season and I was told by locals that it's swamped during the season. I'm happy I was able to browse and see what the shop had to offer without a crowd. I got white chocolate almond bark, a fruitcake (of course!), and a tray of nuts, pralines, chocolates, and peanut brittle. There are samples to try in case you're stuck on what to buy. The showroom has plenty of other cute gifts to purchase if you don't want to buy strictly sweets. The wonderful staff takes pride and are very proud to represent the shop. We are still working on the sweets we brought back home for us to enjoy. I will definitely return when I'm in the area again :)

We had the most delightful experience at Southern Supreme Fruitcake! It's truly a holiday gem, cherished by both locals and visitors. Their selection of goodies is beyond compare, and visiting during Autumn is a brilliant tip to avoid the holiday rush while stocking up on gifts and decorations. The showroom is beautifully decorated, and all of the employees were super helpful and friendly! The best part? Their fruitcakes remain fresh for 6-8 months, ensuring a delightful treat for the upcoming holidays. I highly recommend this place for a festive and delicious shopping experience!

Super cute shop! We drove from Star to try the fruitcake. Upon entering you're able to sample a selection of 4-6 items. The sweet pickles were delicious! The store is super cute. I visited around Christmas time and really enjoyed walking around and seeing all the decorations for sale. You're able to get a variety of gift baskets that have anywhere from 4-12 items in them. These make great gifts! I ended up with some jam and a fruitcake.

I think this place is a must visit during the holiday season. Love the samples, love the variety, and most of all, love the fruitcake. This isn't your Auntie Mable's fruitcake. This is loaded in fresh nuts and a touch of fruit. It should actually be nutcake.

WOW! I had heard about this place, but went for the first time today. It is already decorated for Christmas, and it is beautiful. We had a lovely tour by one of their employees and were able to actually see the workers HAND making the various items they sell here. Yes, they really do make things my hand here...amazing. After the tour, we were treated to a few samples of some of the items. It's impossible to sample everything, as they make MUCH more than just fruitcake. If you like nuts, especially pecans, and peanuts, this is the place for you. The fruitcake is FULL of nuts, not much fruit, but lots of nuts. Very nice flavor. They had all kinds of nut brittle, chocolate covered nuts, turtle type candies, buckeyes, fudge, on and on.... We also sampled some of the apple cider. It is wonderful. I had to come home with a can of that too. Cookies, cookies, and more cookies....even fruitcake cookies...lemon bites, cheese crackers, etc....oh my! Not everything has nuts, and they even have jellies, syrups and other items that are made there. The lovely decorations are also for sale. Very clean, lovely people, a wide variety of great treats...even gift packages of different sizes that are ready to go. A perfect place for holiday shopping. They are open year round, but hours vary according to the season. Well worth the trip!

Last year I visited Southern Supreme's showroom after previous purchases online. I had hoped to tour the factory this year but wasn't sure with Covid. I lucked out and asked and received a private tour. These products are truly locally made. The factory is much larger than I expected and employs so many people. I wasn't allowed to take photos of the factory which is understandable but it is divided into sections and each makes the different products. The fruitcakes are baked then shaped in a machine so that they are uniform and the correct weight. The products are hand made from the fruitcakes to the brittles to the chocolates to the fudge to the nuts to the cookies to jams & relishes. The showroom holds 10% of the products made as the rest are sold through the mail; web; or sold over the phone. Some grocery stores even carry the fruitcakes. There is an area to sample the products. Last year you could pick what you wanted to try but this year they had plates already made up with the products and you could try the hot cider or hot cocoa. Masks are required in the showroom and they ask that you remain six feet apart from others. The shopping carts are sanitized too. Everyone was very friendly and helpful during my visit.

2 hr Drive from Charlotte but they have shipping on their website. Its a cute, quaint, chocolate boutique with a tasting bar. Its already decked out for Christmas. Im not a NC native but my friends are... They usually order at the road shows but due to COVID theyre canceled. So, we did a quick day trip for me to come try it. I was very impressed with the size and selection in the store. Besides the favorite fruit cake their nuts, chocolate, syrup, tea, cheese biscuits and various candies were a delight. I purchased 15 items and was throughly impressed. The fruit cake cookies were heavenly. I would definitely make a trip back. OH, they make personalized gift baskets on the spot too.

It's like visiting the home of the grandma you wish you had. I've been craving homemade peanut brittle for the longest, but it seems to me to be a lost art. I happened to be visiting a friend in NC, and she had me try a piece of fruit cake. It was super nutty and full of flavor. I then told her that I was on the hunt for some "Good Ole Pentacostal Peanut Brittle." I said it half jokingly, but I meant what I said. I remember as a child how all the moms and grandmas would make all kinds of candies and baked goods for church bazaars. My friend looked at me, the corners of her lips curled like the grinch and said, "This place has that." We made a point to go there during my trip. Everyone working there was very sweet and patient while we were sampling their goodies. From what I hear, on a normal day, they hand out a bite of the fruitcake. But since it was closer to Christmas, we were surprised with extra (candied peanuts, cheese puff, and something else). I knew I was not leaving without a brick of the fruit cake. Well let me tell you, this place took me back. I saw a lot of candies that I remembered as a kid. They had this cinnamon mosaic type looking cinnamon flavored candy that reminded me of cinnamon bear-shaped lollipops I used to enjoy as a kid. But I found them...the brittle! They had pecan brittle, but I went straight to the peanut brittle. Grabbed two bags and ripped one open in the car. The candy was super thick, buttery, light, and airy. They did not skimp out on the peanuts either. I sent a picture to my family to make then jealous, and the piece was so thick, they thought it was a piece of fried fish. I'm craving that brittle right now. If you're ever in the area, make sure to stop by. It'll be worth the trip and you'll leave with great gifts.
